It was a year ago that Kim was admitted into John Hopkin’s Kimmel Center for 3 weeks to start chemotherapy treatment. Where have 12 months gone? From thinking that he had 3-6 months of life without treatment, to an average of 15 months (24 months for 99% of patients) with treatment to live, I now believe that he could live many months more or even years!
I think that being at home where he’s very well cared for and is surrounded by ‘life’ rather than by 4 walls in a nursing facility, has a lot to do with him doing so well. There are no sighs of cancer and, besides having lost a lot because of the stroke ( mainly his mobility & his memories of the past 20-30 years), the old Kim – after TBIs – is back!
Life is good …. and I’m grateful for being able to have Kim at home and being able to care for him.
