Two-month Trial at the w:Annapolitan Assisted Living

Annapolitan Assisted Living – Kim’s Room is on the 3rd Floor
Waiting area right before the facility’s home theater
Taking Kim to downtown Annapolis to get both a COVID & flu shot; he was under the weather for two days after that 😬

Kim has steadily gotten worse and worse and he’s now pretty much bed-ridden. Though he has occasionally done 40-50 stand ups from bed in the past 2 months, he is pretty exhausted the following days and can hardly even sit on the edge of the bed. He can no longer stand up, or even move as we change him and it makes it very, very difficult for me to care for him. It has also been 1 year since I brought him home under Hospice care. Needless to say I’m burned out!

Therefore, I’ve decided to try a highly rated assisted living facility 6 minutes from my home. They take him tomorrow, Monday October 30. I’m both relieved but very upset at the thought of having to place him 😢😢😢.

We are doing a 1-2 month trial which will give me much needed respite and would allow me to evaluate the place. I am hoping that this facility is as good as the ratings portray to be.

The management of home caregivers has also been kind of a nightmare as well. I’m looking forward to not having to do that. On the other hand, I am feeling sad because I wish I could keep him home … only that I’ll need a full- time able person with me and I have not found that.

It is a bitter-sweet feeling but I know it in my heart that this is the best decision for both of us at this point of his illness. ❤️🙏
