It is hard to believe that it has been 1 month since Kim came home! We have settled into a daily routine and, as the nurse practitioner said it on Monday, Kim has reached a ‘stable’ condition. She said that she has seen many patients with AML and this is very typical – to reach a period of ‘normalcy’’. Then she warned us to not be surprised if one day, all of a sudden, Kim’s condition takes a dive and he has a few days to live. That’s how this disease evolves 😢.
I have also found ‘normalcy’ managing Kim’s care, with nearly daily support from Aids and ongoing calls or visits from nurses, the chaplain, volunteer, and friends. Kim’s oldest son joined us for thanksgiving, and we got Kim to the main floor to celebrate this special day with a nice meal on our dining room.
