Tomorrow would be 3 weeks since I brought Kim home and it has been a very intense period when I often don’t know exactly what day of week it is. Yet, I feel that we now have a rhythm, with Kim being more alert and used to his ‘5 star hotel’ as he sometimes refers to our first floor family room area where he’s. The Aids situation has also settled down a bit, with the agency Aids being just OK, and an Aid that I’ve hired being superb and giving me peace of mind.
Kim still cannot remember a lot, including that this is his home, nor can he remember a lot of events from his past, including our two year sailing trip or even that we sailed for so many years 😢. We have the best entertainment TV where he is and I started playing ‘Sam Holmes Sailing’ in YouTube which he likes a lot. As we watch it, I remind him of similar experiences we had sailing and his memory seems to come back. It is like peeling an onion discovering his past life of which he has no recollection.
Unfortunately, he seems to have gotten weaker and is hardly able to walk much once I help him out of bed, mainly to go to the bathroom or to sit on his wheel chair to eat. But I did manage to convince him to go out for a short car ride yesterday, when I decided not to have an Aid and to spend the day caring for him. His stamina is definitely diminished but, thankfully, his steady mood is still the same.
