Cunningham-Ramos AML & Stroke after TBI Journey

Last week Kim had ‘mixed” performance, but overall cooperating and doing what the therapists ask him to do. However, he is now desperate to come home! His speech therapist told me yesterday that she thinks he’s achieved all he is going to do. Cognitively, he lost quite a bit with the stroke but it is mainly short term memory and not understanding his condition. However, just being at the facility makes people lose track of time and forgetful.

His occupational and physical therapists say he’s doing well but there is a lot more to recover. However, I don’t know how long they will be able or want to keep him at the facility. Yesterday, he launched out of bed 3 times, falling on his knees twice and hitting his head once. The falls were not too bad and he seemed well after. However, this landed him back to the hospital for a few hours last night at the request of the facility’s doctor to make sure he did not have an internal brain bleed. They found him well at the hospital.

The main concern now is his cognition and short term memory recall and thinking he can walk anywhere!
