A bit of a set back in physical therapy
I got a call from Kim’s physical therapist on Wednesday, something that had not happened before since Kim entered the skilled nursing facility. I have been receiving updates because I seek them out on Thursdays, the day after therapists do their weekly evaluations to submit to Medicare.
I suspected that the news were not going to be good. Kim had been telling me that he was not doing too well in therapy. I could also tell that he was not making progress. He’s very tired most days last week, one reason being that he’s kept awake by the hustle and bustle of loud TVs (it seems as if most patients are def 😬). Also, the traffic of nurses & aids outside his door can be very distracting.
His physical therapist told me that he had a bad week and, instead of improving, he regressed a little bit. If he continues like this, they’ll determine that they’ve gone as far as he’s going to get and will send him home. However, today’s assistant therapist had him walking for a little bit and doing several exercises. I am very hopeful that he’ll be more cooperative and strong enough to perform more difficult exercises.
