At a skilled nursing facility

FutureCare – Chesapeake, Arnold, MD

After passing the swallow test and being allowed to eat soft foods, the next step was to get an acute rehabilitation facility to accept him. I was really hoping that he could be accepted at the John Hopkins Bayview Stroke facility. Unfortunately, he was not accepted because he needs a lot of care.

When the case manager called me at 4 pm yesterday to tell me the ‘bad’ news, she mentioned FutureCare Chesapeake, a skilled nursing facility, which is about 2 miles from my home. I quickly went to the facility and toured it, looked at the ratings and decided it was a good enough place. He was taken there this afternoon.

I’ve talked to everyone in charge of his care and I’m praying for him to be comfortable there.

  1. Sounds good. Close to home. Easier for you!
