Right before the next round of Azacitidine/Venetoclax treatment is to start, Kim finally ‘recovers’. He’s no longer winded, has more energy, is more aware, and can sustain staying up longer. However, the treatments are very harsh on him, with each treatment having a more severe impact on the quality of his quality.
On this treatment, by the second day of going to John Hopkins to have them administer Azacitidine intravenously, he was very unsteady, weak, extremely confused, and acted like a zombie. The confusion, however, now seems permanent. He does not know where he is (thinks our home is some other home far away from it); can no longer comprehend what he reads ( though he still likes to try to read the Washington Post during breakfast/lunch, he has difficulty comprehending even the titles); and he’s tired all the time, going from the couch to his bed after he eats or goes to the bathroom.
