Art therapy

Deep Space Imagined Collage – Bob Wirth

The discovery of using art as therapy to help people explore their self-expressions and develop coping skills has been successful. The most innovative institutions exhibit great, meaningful art that feeds the soul and is uplifting. Around the Weingber building at Hopkins one finds several walls exhibiting inspiring art, some by known artists.

This art work called my attention both because of its beauty and, also, because it reminds me of our family’s life together. Mainly, when we circumnavigated the Caribbean for two years in a 37-foot sail boat from 2007-2009. Our son Daniel was 11 years old when we left. It makes me very happy to realize that we made a great decision to go on this life-changing adventure then.  Had we waited for retirement and not taking the risk of leaving jobs, having to ‘boat-school’ Daniel, etc., we would have never fulfilled this dream.
